In this beautiful village at dusk, there is a tangerine orchard that has stood for a long time. I hope that the small-scale restaurant to be built here will continue the impressive landscapes that have left a lasting memory.
The first scene that left a lasting impression on us was the view beneath the tangerine trees. The landscape, filled with soil, weeds, fallen leaves, and moss, blends harmoniously with the short tangerine trees.
The second impression is the tangerine orchard path. This path naturally formed as the trees gradually deteriorated and is now used as a space for harvesting or storing equipment.
The third is the texture. The textures of nature, soaked in the westward sunlight at dusk, are even more impressive than usual.
Minimizing the destruction of the tangerine orchard is crucial. We needed to avoid blocking the sunlight that the crops require, and it was also important to reduce the amount of civil engineering work.
The existing wide open space is used as the restaurant's courtyard. The tangerine trees facing the road are cleared, and the restaurant is placed there. The tangerine orchard path has been transformed into a beautiful walking path with the help of landscaping.
The restaurant features low, long windows that offer a view of the low landscape of the tangerine orchard. The soil, fallen leaves, moss, tree bases, and Jeju stones serve as beautiful landscaping in their own right.
The gentle roof extends beyond the exterior walls, forming an eave. The underside of the eave is finished with mirror stainless steel, reflecting the landscape of the tangerine orchard.
The concrete beam above the window is finished to evoke the texture of tangerine peel. The beige-tone stain applied to the exterior walls deepens when it meets the westward light at dusk, resembling the color of tangerines.
Imagine a tangerine. You can almost feel your mouth watering. When people visit the restaurant, I hope that, as they reminisce about this place, they too will feel hungry.
소규모식탁이라 불리는 이 식당은 제주도 서귀포에 서광리라 불리는 해가질 무렵이 무척 아름다운 마을에 위치해있습니다.
낮은 귤나무와 귤나무 잎 아래 풍성한 자연의 모습, 노을이 질 때 더 짙어지는 귤의 색감이 인상적인 곳이었습니다.
마을에서 제일 오래된 귤밭중 하나였던 만큼, 이곳엔 오랜시간에 걸쳐 만들어진 다양한 빈공간이 있었습니다. 수확을 하면서 만들어진 길, 빛을 못 받고 도태된 나무들이 죽게 되어, 작은 광장처럼 길 한가운데 만들어진 공터, 이끼의 숲 등 이미 훌륭한 조경이 갖추어져 있었습니다.
우리가 할 것은 귤밭을 건드리지 않을 최소한의 파괴행위였고, 건축물의 배치와 토목계획(배수로)가 관건이었습니다. 귤나무를 최대한 건드리지 않으면서도 도로에 근접하여, 철거와 토목이 최소화된 곳으로 배치를 결정했습니다.
건축물은 서쪽에 홀을 배치한 ㄴ 자형태에, 배치가 한곳으로 쏠리는 것을 막기 위해 작은 별동을 경계의 끝에 배치했습니다.
서쪽에 위치한 홀에서는 나무밑동의 생태계를 보여주는 낮고 긴창을 마주합니다. 이 창과 천창을 통해 아름다운 서향빛을 여러 차례 보여줍니다.
건축물의 치수는 유로폼의 규격에 맞춰 정했졌습니다. 유로폼 노출면 위에 진한 노란색 스테인을 발라, 서향과 만나면 건축물은 귤의 색감처럼 진해지는데, 창의 상부는 프레카로 다듬하여, 귤껍질의 질감이 연상되었으면 했습니다다. 짧은처마의 상부는 미러스테인리스로 귤밭의 풍경이 반사됩니다.
홀의 천장에는 각재를 띄엄띄엄 설치하고, 천창까지 이어지게 해 각재에 부딪힌 햇빛이 들어옵니다. 화장실은 천장보다 낮게하여, 천장이 막힘없이 이어지도록 했습니다.
